Apple의 2009 맥월드 엑스포 종지부, 스티브 잡스도, 키노트도 없다!

2008년 맥월드 액스포의 스티브잡스 키노트가 영구 버전이 될 듯 합니다. 이제는 화려한 임팩트도, 밤새 키노트를 기다릴 필요가 없어질 모양입니다.

Apple이 공식적으로 2009년 맥월드를 끝으로 스티브 잡스를 필두로 한 키노트도, 액스포 참여도 없다는 발언을 하고야 말았습니다. 우선적으로 이번 맥월드 액스포는 Phil Schiller이 (Apple's senior VP of worldwide product marketing)이 나서서 키노트를 진행하는 것으로 마무리를 한다고 합니다.

이전부터 건강이상설로 키노트에서도 많은 이들의 주목을 끌었던 스티브잡스가 이제는 Apple의 맥월드 액스포 참가를 거부함에 따라서 Apple의 독자적인 제품 발표회로의 무대를 만들것이라는 외국 언론들의 추측들이 나오고 있습니다.

Apple Announces Its Last Year at Macworld

CUPERTINO, Calif., Dec. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Apple(R) today announced that this year is the last year the company will exhibit at Macworld Expo. Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, will deliver the opening keynote for this year's Macworld Conference & Expo, and it will be Apple's last keynote at the show. The keynote address will be held at Moscone West on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. Macworld will be held at San Francisco's Moscone Center January 5-9, 2009.

Apple is reaching more people in more ways than ever before, so like many companies, trade shows have become a very minor part of how Apple reaches its customers. 이미 Apple Store 기반을 지속적으로 확장해온 Apple이 더이상 Macworld Expo를 통해서 시장확대를 위한 미디어 활동이 필요없다는 판단과 Apple에 주목하는 많은 언론의 눈빛이 이제는 더이상 Steve Jobs(스티브 잡스)가 컴백했던 1980년대의 시장이 아니었다는 판단, 신제품 출시에 대한 다양한 루머는 더이상 관례가 아닌 Apple의 발전에 필수요소가 되고 있다는 판단등이 복합적으로 묶인 작업이라고 내다보고 있다고 하더군요.

또하나 궁금한 것은 제품 마케팅을 담당하고 있는 필립(Phil Schiller)을 마지막 키노트에 내놓은 모양새입니다.
이제 스티브잡스도 퇴직을 해야하는 마당에 누구를 선정하고 Apple을 이끌어갈 후계자로 적합한지에 대한 내부적인 결정이 나온 것일 수 있다라는 내용입니다.

이는 즉, 스티브잡스의 뒤를 이을 만한 인물로 뽑혔던 COO로 있는 팀쿡(Tim Cook)이 아닌 필립이 왜 대외적인 석상에 마지막 키노트 선두주자가 되느냐는 문제는 기업적인 이미지에서 큰 역할론을 주는 것일수도 있습니다.제품 마케팅을 통한 대외적인 시선을 본 것 일까요? 아니면 Apple의 큰 프로젝트에 있어서 총괄지휘를 할 수 있고 친근한(Friendly) 이미지를 갖을 만한 인물로 필립을 뽑은 것일까요? 아직까지는 아무것도 알 수 없습니다.

단 전세계 글로벌 마케팅의 시장 흐름을 잘 판단하고 있을 거라는 스티브잡스의 이목과 이사회의 압력이 어느정도 작용하지 않았을까 예측해봅니다.(더이상 스티브 잡스 자신도 천재 소리를 듣는 팀쿡을 CEO 자리에 앉히지 않고 시장을 내다볼 수 있는 현실적인 사람을 CEO 자리에 앉히고자 할 수도 있겠지요. 100% 저만의 추측입니다.)
