데스크탑에서도 쇼핑을 가능하게, eBay Desktop beta Open!

Online Shopping의 선두주자로 불리우는 eBay가 Desktop Application 시대를 활짝 열게 되었다. 이전부터 준비해오던 Adobe Air를 사용하던 eBay Desktop이 15MB 용량을 자랑하는 안정된 스펙으로 일부 테스트 사용자에게 문을 열었었다.

상품 검색과, 아이템 업데이트시 알리미 역할, 구매 의사가 있는 상품에 대한 강력한 필터링 기능, 어떤 브라우저에 상관없이 구동할 수 있는 데스크탑 어플로써의 입지를 eBay는 미리 선점하게 된 것 같다.

그야말로 공짜 어플리케이션을 한개의 eBay ID로 로그인 함으로써 손쉽게 쓸수 있다는 것에 매력이 있다고 볼 수 있다. 간혹 어플의 에러로 상품 검색 및 가격 비교가 되지 않았지만 이번에는 그러한 문제들을 강력하게 해소한 셈이다.

한국의 수많은 온라인 쇼핑몰이 있지만 이번과 같은 eBay의 Application 따라하기는 좀 시간이 지나야 되지 않을까 생각된다.

설치 요건으로는 Wondow XP or Vista, Mac OS X 10.4.6 이상이며 아래와 같은 조건이 갖춰줘야 설치가 가능하다.

현재는 eBay Desktop으로 불리우지만 초기 테스트로 세상에 빛을 준비할때는 "San Dimas"라는 프로젝트 명으로 한창 테스터의 시선을 사로잡았었습니다.

We have finally released a new beta of eBay Desktop, version 0.9 (formerly known as the "San Dimas" project) This release has major improvements, and also includes international support. You can now use eBay Desktop with eBay UK, Germany, France, Italy, Australia, Canada, and many more. The interface itself is not translated yet, but once you select your site (click the Flag icon on the top bar) you'll see listings for your country. Download it from http://desktop.ebay.com

If you have not tried eBay Desktop yet, now is the time! We have prioritized our fixes and improvements based on user feedback, and this beta release shows the result of that effort. Let your voice be heard -- as a beta user you have the unique chance to affect the evolution of this product.

We are closing in on the 1.0 release, and I would appreciate your help in getting out the word about this beta release. Although we have made significant improvements, there are still plenty of bugs to fix, and your help is invaluable.

I expect to send one more email to this list when eBay Desktop 1.0 is done, but since the beta no longer requires sign up, most of our current beta testers don't get this emails, so I will not be using this list after that.
