지칠줄 모르게 터져 나오는 Apple Tablet에 대한 루머에 또 하나의 변수가 쏟아졌습니다. 그간 OLED 탑재 가능성이 유력시 되어 왔고, 관련 특허가 등록되었다는 이야기에 덧붙인 또하나의 이야기 입니다. The DigiTimes 발 기사에서는 Apple Tablet 제조사에서 건내준 소스에서, 9.7인치 LG 제품의 모델과 10.6인치 모델에 OLED 탑재로 인해 출시 시기가 늦춰질 것이라는 소문이 퍼져나왔습니다.
DigiTimes에서는 9.7인치 OLED 모델이 약 500달러로 짐작되었으나, 2010년 2/4분기에 출시될 경우 약 1500 달러에서 1600 달러까지 가격조정이 있을 것이라 추측하면서 이에 10.6인치 모델도 800 달러에서 1000 달러 이상에서 가격조정이 있을 것이라는 자세한 소식까지 전하고 있어, 그간 Steve Jobs가 표력했던 e-book 시장에 Apple이 참여할 것이라는 발언에 대한 신빙성 근거 자료를 DigiTimes가 정리해주는 계기가 되었습니다.
거짓이든, 진실이든 iPhone이 국내 출시에 맞춰서 Apple도 신제품을 전세계에 내놓을 시기는 결국 2010년이 될것 같습니다. 하지만 모든 제품의 사실은 눈에 보이고, Keynote를 통해서 Steve Jobs가 Apple Fanboy들에게 공표해야만 사실 여부가 판가름 나기에 기다려 봐야 하는 것은 사실입니다.
The nameless talkers say construction of the devices will be done by
three companies, and that there will be two, distinct units, the
previously mentioned 9.7" OLED screened unit, and a 10.6" TFT LCD
screened version. OLED's are very expensive compared to LCD displays, a
cost that will be passed on to consumers. Sources figure the OLED
tablet will have a retail price of about US$2,000, though that could
come down with subsidies from telecom partners. The LCD unit with its
0.9" larger display is expected to be priced between US$800 and
US$1,000.
이미 지난 11월 12일, Apple의 새로운 특허 출현 내용이 공개되어 일대 "루머"로 나오긴 했는데요. 현재 시중에 얼굴을 보인 Sony, B & L의 e-book과 어깨를 나란히 할 Apple의 "Pen-based Tablet" 목업에 대한 특허 디자인이 공개되어 이슈가 잠깐 되었습니다.
iPhone의 큰 대형 버전으로 Stylus Pen으로 터치 가능한 디자인이라 생각했지만, 모든 Pen-based로 작동하는 Tablet일 것이라는 추측이 크게 나돌더군요. 결국 이곳에서 디지털 잉크 기술이 포함될 것이라는 디자인 특허의 내용으로 짐작해볼 수 있는 내용입니다.
개인적으로 Apple의 Tablet은 현재의 iPhone과 iPod touch에 적용되는 정전압 방식으로 적용되어 손으로 터치하고 디지털 잉크를 읽을 수 있는 기술로 가기를 기대해봅니다.
